Chocolate Covered Tiger Nuts

How to make choc covered school treats! (And Why)
Step 1: Buy some vegan dark chocolate in bulk from santosorganics.com.au
Step 2: Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler (see video for that)
Step 3: Take the bowl off the heat using a tea towel.
Step 4: Get your nuts/seeds/tigernuts (they are a vegetable) ready. Add other ingredients you have in pantry - activated sunflower seeds, buckwheat, flaxseeds etc. Just keep adding and mixing.. Until there are so many bits and pieces in there that it's a very thin coverage of chocolate.
Step 5: Place our Reusable not-plastic-wrap over a plate or tray, then pour the mixture over the top. Our food grade silicone wraps are heat proof and cold proof so they work perfectly for this!
Step 6: Put the tray/s in the fridge or freezer (wherever you have room, both work). I did two mixes in the video.. one for seeds and one for nuts. (Thinking school treats).
So this is a treat because it has the chocolate.. But it also has protein, amino acids, resistant starch, prebiotics, fibre, vitamins & minerals so it's a much better way to give a treat I think! We always use things that Ariella would otherwise not eat on their own but that are real high density super foods.
Step 7: After 20 minutes the chocolate should be hard and your treat is ready to go! Take it out of the fridge, pull it off the reusable wrap, break it up and store it in our reusable food fresh storage bags.
You can read about why those are so important in our kids picture book Tummy Buggies (available here).
