Quick confidence check
- Age: Great from around 6 months.
- Texture: Blend smooth for younger babies; mash thicker as they grow.
- How much: Even 1–3 tablespoons can be completely normal.
- Remember: Breastmilk/formula is still the main nutrition.
Your job is to offer. Your baby decides how much.
Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana (200g), peeled and chopped
- 1 ripe apple (200g), peeled, cored and diced
- 1/2 tsp. of ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Steam the diced apples in a stovetop steamer or a Beaba Baby Cook system for about 10 minutes or until soft.
- Add cinnamon to cooked apple and banana and mash with a fork or purée the fruits in a food processor for a smoother consistency.
- If preparing your baby food recipe in bulk freeze the puree into ice-cube trays.
- Label and date your homemade portions so that you know when to use the puree by.
- Clean up as you normally would after prep.
Confidence cue: Too thick? Add a splash of water/stock/milk. Too runny? Simmer a little longer.
Apple, Banana & Cinnamon Baby Porridge/Puree FAQs
Is this recipe suitable from 6 months?
Yes — blend smooth for younger babies and adjust texture as your baby grows.
Can I skip the cinnamon?
Absolutely. It’s optional — the apple and banana are naturally sweet on their own.
What if my baby eats only a little?
That’s normal. Milk is still the main nutrition — solids are practice.
