Homemade Turkey, Capsicum And Sweet Potato Baby Puree Recipe

for Little Mashies reusable food pouches

300g of cooked turkey mince
1 cup capsicum, chopped
2 cup sweet potatoes, chopped

Step 1: Steam the potatoes and peppers in a stovetop steamer or a Beaba Baby Cook system.
Step 2: Meanwhile use a little oil and water and cook turkey in a deep skillet over medium heat for about 10 minutes.
Step 3: Puree all the vegetables in a food processor or blender, using a little water to get the desired smooth consistency (usually 1-2 tablespoons). You can also use breast milk or formula to mix with the puree.
Step 4: Stir the pureed vegetables through the turkey mince for an older baby or puree the mince with the vegetables for a younger baby.

For Baby Led Weaning and Older Kids

For older kids this is awesome as a pureed stir through sauce for pasta, rice or quinoa! You could even add some spices (paprika, chilli, or pepper)! Slowly at first so your little one gets used to the flavours. In baby led weaning the turkey, capsicum and sweet potato would be very well cooked and offered in bigger pieces from 6-9mths (about the size of 2 adult fingers).
Baby led weaning advice
In our home we did this as well as spooning in the puree version of the recipe (using our Little Mashies distractor cutlery). From 9mths in baby led weaning you chop the pieces into tiny sizes that they can swallow whole (way smaller than whats in this recipe image). From around 12mths the food pieces are cut into bite sizes. From about 18th mths in baby led weaning recipes you can offer the turkey, capsicum and sweet potato in larger grabbing/ holding sized pieces again. This is so your little one has the opportunity to learn how to take their own smaller bites!

Why is capsicum a great baby food choice?

Capsicum (or bell pepper) is a good source of vitamin A, vitamin B6, lycopene and folate. That gives them an important role in preventing many deseases and keeping your baby in good health. In baby food capsicum can be baked, steamed or boiled before it is pureed. Each cooking method brings out different flavours and characteristics of the food.

Little Mashies reusable food pouch reviews

A Winner In The House
Have had other brands but these one are thicker and don't come open, Miss 7 & Mr 3 were so happy to have them in their lunchbox with homemade yoghurt, A winner in this house
My Little Boy Loves These
My little boy loves eating my puree mixes but I use store bought packets for when we go out. Now with the little mashies I can fill them up with my purees, freeze them and go out. One suggestion is to have a blank section where I can write what's in it.
They Are A Hit In My House
I brought these for my very very very fussy eater he only eats 4 different foods one is yougart in a squeeze and only one brand I thought these might work one because they are the same colour as that brand and two he can't see what's inside. No arguments so they are a hit in my house.
