Potato, Carrot and Tomato Baby Food Recipe
Worried about veggie purees being too plain? This recipe brings together creamy potato, sweet carrot and tangy tomato — a flavour trio babies love and parents can build meals from.
Potato, Carrot & Tomato Baby Food Recipe
This puree is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium and fibre. Perfect for babies 6 months+, and easily adapted into family meals with our One Meal, Everyone Eats system.

Why this combo works
Potato provides carbs and potassium for energy and hydration. Carrot delivers beta-carotene for immunity and eyesight. Tomato adds vitamin C to boost iron absorption and lycopene for antioxidant protection.
Ingredients
- 1 potato, peeled & diced
- 1 carrot, peeled & diced
- 1 tomato, deseeded & diced
Instructions
- Steam potato, carrot and tomato together until soft (15–20 mins).
- Blend until smooth, adding cooking liquid if needed.
- Spoon into Little Mashies pouches or freeze in ice cube trays.
Confidence cue: The tomato makes the puree naturally smooth — no need to add much liquid.
How to adapt this recipe for everyone at the table
- Baby (6–8 months): Puree silky smooth. Thin with breastmilk or warm water if needed.
- Toddler (9–18 months): Mash chunky. Stir into pasta, rice, or spread on toast fingers.
- Adults & Older Kids: Use as a pasta sauce base. Add onion, garlic, olive oil and herbs for a quick family meal.
We’ve given you starter ideas — but the One Meal, Everyone Eats guide includes the complete recipes with measurements and cooking steps.
Baby-Led Weaning Adaptations
6–9 months: Offer finger-sized pieces of soft potato or carrot. For tomato, peel, deseed and cook into soft strips. Serve on the Little Mashies platter.
9–12 months: Chop into rice-sized pieces. Mash into mixed textures rather than puree.
12 months+: Bite-sized cubes (fingernail size). Combine with grains or serve as finger food.
18 months+: Larger serves (half a baked potato, whole tomato wedges) to practice bites and chewing.
