Carrot Baby Food Recipe
Why is carrot a great baby food choice?
Carrots are one of the sweetest vegetables and your baby will absolutely love it. When cooked it’s easy to swallow and digest and you can give it to your baby alone or combined with other vegetables or fruits. Carrots are very rich in vitamin A which supports a strong immune system helping to make our little ones grow up nice and strong. Carrots should be very well cooked for babies starting solids, pureed to a very smooth consistency. As your baby gets older you can cook carrot less and mash it, and then later you can make carrot sticks to use with dips, or use a peeler and make carrot "noodles" by using the ribbons under pasta sauce. Getting creative with vegetables is one on the things we love most in our household. I hide vegetables in everything and I we also eat vegetables exactly as they come with no disguise at all. In our diet vegetables are probably number one on the list with meat coming in a very close second. There has been a tonne of reserach showing people who eat more veggies have a healthy digestive system and lets face it children pick up their eating habits early so you need to start thinking about this right from the very first introduction of solid baby foods.
Ingredients:
2 large carrots (approx. 360g)
2 tbsp. water/ breast milk/ formula
Instructions:
Step 1: Peel and cut carrots into small pieces.Step 2: Steam the carrot in a stovetop steamer or a Beaba Baby Cook system for approximately 15 minutes or until tender.
Step 3: Puree the carrot in a food processor, using a little liquid to get the desired smooth consistency (usually 1-2 tablespoons).
Step 4: If preparing your baby food recipe in bulk freeze the puree into ice-cube trays or spoon it straight into Little Mashies reusable food pouches and then store them in the fridge or freezer. Step 5: Label and date your homemade pouches so that you know when to use the puree by. There is a space on the back of the Little Mashies yoghurt and baby food pouches so that you can write all the details.
Step 6: To clean your reusable food pouches you can check out our Little Mashies video here. Little Mashies are see through when held towards light, so it is very easy to see that all of the food is washed out. Because of the specifically designed curved shape, all of the food washes straight out when held upside down under a tap. I Am Very Impressed
POSTED BY A CUSTOMER
I purchased these for my 7 month old and I'm very impressed... So are my elder two children who also just had to help try them out ;) They seal very securely, are easy to clean, seem durable and the designs are very cute! So much easier to use than trying to spoon feed an overeager hungry baby. A lot less messy too!
