Carrots are one of the sweetest vegetables and your baby will absolutely love it. When cooked it’s easy to swallow and digest and you can give it to your baby alone or combined with other vegetables or fruits. Carrots are very rich in vitamin A which supports a strong immune system helping to make our little ones grow up nice and strong. Carrots should be very well cooked for babies starting solids, pureed to a very smooth consistency. As your baby gets older you can cook carrot less and mash it, and then later you can make carrot sticks to use with dips, or use a peeler and make carrot "noodles" by using the ribbons under pasta sauce. Getting creative with vegetables is one on the things we love most in our household. I hide vegetables in everything and I we also eat vegetables exactly as they come with no disguise at all. In our diet vegetables are probably number one on the list with meat coming in a very close second. There has been a tonne of reserach showing people who eat more veggies have a healthy digestive system and lets face it children pick up their eating habits early so you need to start thinking about this right from the very first introduction of solid baby foods.
Carrots are so awesome that I’ve done quite a few recipes containing it. Some are complicated, for older kids, and some are simple for pureed baby food. You can get it here http://littlemashies.com.au/free. All of my recipes can be used with or without Little Mashies squeeze containers, you don’t have to buy my product to benefit from the recipe ebook, it’s just something I’ve put together after about 10,000 emails asking me to ☺ enjoy!
