Carrot and Pear Baby Food Recipe
Feeling overwhelmed? When you try a new baby food, watch for constipation. Keep the Baby Constipation Plan on hand so you can act quickly and calmly.
This naturally sweet puree blends soft pear with beta-carotene-rich carrot. Perfect from 6 months, it supports eyesight, immunity, and gentle digestion.

Why carrot and pear are a winning combo
Carrots bring beta-carotene that converts to vitamin A, essential for strong eyesight, growth, and immunity. Pears add natural sweetness, vitamin C, and fibre to help digestion. Together, they create a smooth, baby-approved blend.
Ingredients
- 1 cup diced pears
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 2 tbsp cooking liquid, breastmilk, or formula (optional, for thinning)
Instructions
- Dice pears and carrots (cut carrots smaller so they cook evenly).
- Steam together for 12–15 minutes until soft.
- Blend until smooth, adding liquid as needed for a silky puree.
- Spoon into Little Mashies reusable pouches or freeze in ice cube trays.
Confidence cue: If your baby prefers sweeter flavours, add extra pear for a gentler taste.
How to adapt this recipe for everyone at the table
- Baby (6–8 months): Puree until silky smooth. Thin with breastmilk or warm water.
- Toddler (9–18 months): Mash chunky. Spread on toast fingers, stir into porridge, or serve as dip with soft fruit sticks.
- Adults & Older Kids: Turn it into a creamy soup. Blend carrots, pears, ginger, and veggie stock, then top with yoghurt and seeds for crunch.
