Chicken Zucchini & Carrot Baby Food Recipe
Worried about first foods? You don’t need endless purees. This recipe shows how one base of chicken, carrot & zucchini can feed baby, toddler, and adults — with just a few tweaks.
Chicken, Carrot & Zucchini Baby Food Recipe
This protein-rich puree is soft on gums and full of vitamin A and fibre. Perfect from 6 months and easily adapted for toddlers and adults with our One Meal, Everyone Eats system.

Why chicken is a winning first food
Chicken provides high-quality protein for growth, vitamin B6 for development, and selenium for immune support. Carrots add vitamin A, while zucchini contributes fibre and hydration. Together they form a gentle, balanced meal for babies.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken breast mince
- 2 zucchini, diced
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1 cup homemade vegetable stock or water
- Optional: 1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions
- Cook chicken, carrots, and garlic in a skillet with olive oil. Add stock as needed.
- Add zucchini and simmer until soft and liquid reduces (about 10 minutes).
- Puree smooth for younger babies, or mash chunky for older ones.
- Serve fresh, store in fridge 48 hours, or portion into Little Mashies pouches and freeze.
Confidence cue: Too thick? Add stock. Too runny? Simmer longer. You’re doing great.
How to adapt this recipe for everyone at the table
- Baby (6–8 months): Puree silky smooth. Thin with breastmilk, formula, or stock.
- Toddler (9–18 months): Mash chunky. Serve with rice, toast fingers, or mild grated cheese.
-
Adults & Older Kids: Turn base into congee or risotto:
- Add ginger, garlic, spring onion, and soy/tamari.
- Top with sesame oil, coriander, or chilli (adults only).
- Optional extras: mushrooms, spinach, or corn.
We’ve given you the idea here — but the One Meal, Everyone Eats guide has the complete adult recipes with quantities and cooking times, so you can recreate these with confidence.

Baby-Led Weaning Adaptations
For BLW, skip pureeing. Shape into soft, finger-sized strips or patties your baby can grasp. Always supervise and ensure pieces are soft enough to gum.
Tip: Serve on Little Mashies suction plates to minimise mess and make meals fun.
