Island Magic Healthy Kids Smoothie
Once you have used Little Mashies as baby food pouches, Little Mashies can be used as reusable yoghurt pouches or reusable smoothie pouches! Lots of older kids freeze our pouches and take them to kinder or school.
We often prep smoothies ahead of time by simply placing 1 batch of the ingredients into the blender (for todays drink), then another 2 batches into a reusable silicone bag (we like the 500ml size for smoothie bags). You can then place the 2nd and 3rd batches (within the bags) into the fridge or freezer (depending on when you plan to consume them), and then simply dump it all into the blander on the next day you want to make this type of smoothie! For us we do smoothie prep on a Sunday night.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup yoghurt
1 cup mangoes
1 cup spinach
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1 cup strawberries
Instructions:
Step 1: Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender for 1 minute or until smooth.
Step 2: Fill Little Mashies reusable pouches via the wide ziplock at the base.
Step 3: Serve straight away, store in the fridge or freeze for later. You can also use Mashies frozen as an ice brick to keep your lunch box cool.
Mango is one of the healthiest fruits you can offer to your baby; rich in vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates it protects the eyesight, fights microbial infections, helps brain development and is easily digestible. Adding some spinach to smoothies, you are providing your kid with lot of benefits: spinach has the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and thanks to wealth of vitamin K it helps the bone health. Strawberries provide many benefits for children, as they are rich in vitamin C, B, calcium, phosphorus and folate and probably one of the coolest benefits of strawberries is their ability to block pain receptors in the body.
